Search and Rescue Team Finds the 3rd Body of Flash Flood Victims in North Sumatra

Indonesia Faktual. The Joint Search and Rescue Team again managed to find and evacuate one victim of a flash flood that occurred in Bongkaras Village, Silima Pungga-pungga District, Dairi District, North Sumatra. The victim was found dead, known as Walbiner Simarmata (38).

The discovery of victims of banjir bandang, is the third victim who was successfully evacuated in a state of death. "The position of the victims was found to be hit by a pile of zinc, stone material, and wood," said the Joint SAR Coordinator, Adi Pandawa, Friday, December 21, 2018.

Furthermore, the body of Walbiner Simarmata was handed over to the family to immediately be interred.

Adi said, the search process relies on manual equipment. The SAR team was divided into several teams and distributed to several points. "Our difficulties are unfavorable terrain conditions," Adi said.

Previously, the Joint SAR team managed to evacuate two victims, namely Elfrida Sinaga (45) and Bairun Sitorus. Of the seven victims declared missing, now, four more victims are still in the process of searching the Joint SAR team.

Flash floods and landslides hit a number of villages in Dairi Regency, North Sumatra, Tuesday, December 18, 2018. As a result of the disaster, around 110 hectares of agricultural and plantation land were severely damaged. Irrigation channels were also damaged, including village road access.

Then, not a few people lose their livestock because they are washed away. Disasters allegedly occurred, due to the high intensity of the rain in recent days.
