Christmas and New Year Holidays, Garuda Flights Filled Bali Destinations
Channel Rakyat. PT. Garuda Indonesia states, on the Christmas and New Year holiday season or Nataru, passengers prefer to vacation to Denpasar, Bali.
This is evident from the number of airline ticket bookings which are dominated by domestic flights to Bali.
"For domestic, the main target is Bali. It is nearing January 1, flights to Bali are full," said Garuda Indonesia Managing Director, I Gusti Ngurah Askhara at Terminal 3 of Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Friday, December 21, 2018
Meanwhile, for international flights, the main target of prospective passengers belonging to the latest state-owned SOEs is Asian countries, namely Japan and South Korea.
"Favorite destinations are no longer Hong Kong, Singapore or Malaysia but, Japan and Korea are Asia's favorites," he said.
Even so, Garuda Indonesia ensures that it has not used the extra flight quota determined by the Ministry of Transportation. All passenger seats still use regular seat rations.
"Business class, executive class full booking. Up to economy class all the occupancy rates are 95 to 99 percent," he said.
New additional flights will be used when needed, because Garuda Indonesia provides 186 additional flights.
Prices do not rise
Gusti also denied the suspicion of passengers who accused the price of Garuda tickets in Nataru's season for increasing.
"The price did not go up when Nataru but, indeed, has undergone a change or an increase since October. That is, the rupiah exchange rate factor at that time was IDR 15 thousand," he said.
According to him, the price increase is still in the Upper Limit Rate (TBA) set by the Ministry of Transportation with a figure of around 6.8 percent of the price before October.
"For domestic, it is still in TBA, but for international there are no restrictions," he said.
Previously, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi also said that the airlines would not play price games.
He also stressed that if a price increase is found that exceeds TBA, the transportation ministry will impose sanctions, either on reprimand or cancellation of flights.
